"Painting is self discovery." - Jackson Pollock
Born in Moscow in the former USSR, Leo Sutkin immigrated to the United States in 1991. He began drawing and painting at age 6 and grew up in a family that embraced the arts. He was educated at Cornell University and the University of Miami. Influenced by the works of Andrew Wyeth, John Singer Sargent, and Kathe Kollwitz, his paintings feature the calm landscapes seen in his travels or set around his home in Fort Lauderdale, as well as social commentary. Family and friends are the cast of characters that appear in his works.
